Product Description

A non-woven material fabricated from E-CR glass filaments, Chopped Strand Mat comprises chopped fibers that are randomly and uniformly distributed. These 50mm-long fibers are treated with a silane coupling agent and bonded into a cohesive mat using an emulsion or powder binder, offering broad compatibility with unsaturated polyester, vinyl ester, epoxy, and phenolic resins.

Chopped Strand Mat is widely applicable across various manufacturing processes, including hand lay-up, filament winding, compression molding, and continuous laminating. Its end-use markets cover infrastructure & construction, automotive, chemical, and marine sectors, with common applications in producing boats, bathroom equipment, auto parts, chemical-resistant pipes, storage tanks, cooling towers, various panels, and building components.

Product Features

Chopped Strand Mat delivers exceptional performance, characterized by consistent thickness, minimal fuzz during handling, and an impurity-free structure. It is soft and easy to tear manually, with excellent processability and defoaming capabilities. Additionally, it offers low resin consumption, rapid wet-out, and thorough resin penetration—while components made with it exhibit high tensile strength (ideal for large-area parts) and superior overall mechanical properties.

Packaging

● Roll Diameter: 28 - 60 cm

● Paper Core I.D. (Inner Diameter): 76.2 mm (3") or 101.6 mm (4")

● The packaging for each roll consists of two levels: an inner layer of plastic film or bag, and an outer cardboard box, ensuring optimal protection during storage and transit.

● Rolls are to be stacked on pallets either vertically or horizontally.

Storage

● The required storage conditions for chopped strand mats, unless otherwise specified, are a cool, dry, and waterproof area with a controlled ambient temperature of 5°C to 35°C and relative humidity of 35% to 80%.

● Chopped Strand Mat is available in a unit weight range of 70 to 1000 grams per square meter, with roll widths spanning from 100 to 3200 millimeters.
